Intense efforts in the dissemination of Blue Smart project results

Over the last months of the project implementation, the BLUE SMART project team has been intensifying efforts in dissemination of results to make the wider public familiar with the project. Thus, project manager Tomislav Šarić participated at the 3rd meeting of the European Association of Fish Pathologists, the branch for Great Britain and Ireland, entitled Linking the Academic Community with Industry to Improve Aquatic Animal Health, held in Galway from 11th to 12th September 2018. Tomislav Šarić participated at the final conference of the Blue Biotechnology Master for a Blue Career – BBMBC project, which was also approved through the Blue Careers in Europe call, held on 22nd November in Bordeaux, France. These events were a chance to exchange experiences gained in the implementation of various EU projects and to familiarize experts from different European countries with the results of the Blue Smart project.
Bruna Petani from the Department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture, University of Zadar, has presented Blue Smart project on the 53th European Marine Biology Symposium (EMBS) within Citizen Science theme. EMBS Symposium was held at the De Grote Post, Ostend, Belgium from 17th to 21st September 2018. This event was a great success and gathered many participants from different countries, including scientists, managers, policy makers and leading specialists in international blue sector. EMBS53 aims at linking the history, the present and the future of (European) marine biology. This event also enabled all participants to share their knowledge and discuss vital issues of the blue sector. Regarding the Blue smart project, two general objectives were pointed out: the new graduate study “Sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems” and the new on-line course “Introduction to the sustainable fisheries practice”.

Ivan Župan, Blue Smart Deputy Project Manager, presented the project and its results at the 13th International Aquaculture Conference - Cooperation in Production and Science - a foundation for successful, sustainable development of aquaculture that took place in Vukovar on 29th and 30th November 2018. The presentation of the project has caused the great interest of eminent experts in the field of fisheries and aquaculture and has been well-suited to the theme of the conference.
