The second BLUE SMART project conference

As a part of the second BLUE SMART project conference, a new graduate study of Sustainable Management of Aquatic Ecosystems has been presented. Speakers were Associate Professor Bosiljka Mustać from the University of Zadar and Ana Zubčić from the Zadar County Rural Development Agency -AGRRA.

Ana Zubčić from the Zadar County Rural Development Agency –AGRRA opened a conference and presented the BLUE SMART project.

Associate Professor Bosiljka Mustać emphasized that the new University Study was created as a part of the project Blue Education for Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources (BLUE SMART), whose main goal is to create new skills and knowledge in the blue sector and to increase employment opportunities for present and future employees of this sector in Zadar County and wider.

The importance of the development of the study programs in the blue sector across the European Union has been recognized earlier. In fact, two study programs of the Department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture of the University of Zadar have been founded and launched through the highly competitive European projects. 

This is the first graduate study within biotechnology field at the University of Zadar, and since its very beginnings it has been prepared in co-ordination with experts from the most important companies in the field of fisheries, aquaculture and the protection of freshwater and marine environment.

The study will enable a student to manage jobs and activities from different fields related to coastal, freshwater and marine environments such as biology and ecology of aquatic ecosystems, aquaculture, fisheries, water ecosystem protection and management of protected marine areas - emphasized Bosiljka Mustać, head of the Department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture of the University of Zadar.
